This ammonia-free glass cleaner is built for surfaces everyone actually notices: Glass doors, mirrors, whiteboards, computer screens, marble reception desks. These aren’t hidden-away surfaces, they’re the ones clients, visitors and employees look at all day. Most facilities default to whatever glass cleaner has always been on the shelf. Read the label on most of them and the active ingredients doing the work is ammonia.

Why ammonia doesn’t belong on those surfaces

Ammonia cuts through grime fast, which is exactly why it became the daft. But it come with tradeoffs that matter more on high-visibility surfaces than anywhere else in a facility:

• Fumes in enclosed spaces: boardrooms, offices, and washrooms with limited ventilation concentrate the smell fast and it’s a genuine irritant for staff cleaning multiple rooms back to back.
• Streaking under bright light: the same reason ammonia cuts through grease also leaves a residue that shows up under office lighting or direct sun, undoing the point of cleaning glass in the first place.
• Surface damage over time: tinted or laminated glass, computer and smart board screens, and marble are all surfaces ammonia can dull, cloud or etch with repeated use.

As an ammonia-free glass cleaner, Glass & Surface Clean Natural (both concentrate and the RTU) is ammonia free and pH neutral (6.0-8.0) and is engineered to dry streak-free without it – no VOCs, no added fragrance, and safe for glass, mirrors, plastics, laminates, computer screens, marble, tile, and white boards.

That’s possible because our newest formula technology: a biosurfactant base up cycled from food waste, replacing the petroleum-derived surfactants most glass cleaners still rely on. It’s the same technology behind the rest of the Natural Line, and it’s what lets this product cut ammonia entirely without giving up the fast, streak-free clean people expect.

Built for the surface people actually look at

Because it’s gentle enough for screens and marble, it doesn’t need a sprat “delicate surface” product on the cart. The same bottle that handles a glass storefront also handles the boardroom’s smart board and the reception desk’s marble counter – the surfaces most likely to be judged on sight, not just to touch.

Biosurfactants aren’t a Project Clean invention – they’re a recognized, independently studied class of bio-based surfactants already used across cleaning, agriculture, and industrial applications for their lower environmental footprint versus petroleum-derived alternatives. We’re the first to bring a food waste derived biosurfactant to a commercial grade cleaning product.

For facilities handling food-contact areas, the RTU and concentrate both call for food to be removed or covered before use, with food-contact surfaces rinse with water afterward. Worth building into a washroom adjacent kitchen or break room routine.

More range than the industry standard

Most commercial glass and surface cleaners on the market give you one dilution rate and expect it to handle everything from a quick wipe-down to a grease cutting job – that’s the industry standard.

Our concentrate doesn’t work that way: it scales from 3ml per litre for everyday glass and surface cleaning, up to 15ml per litre for the toughest spray and wipe jobs, a 5x range from one bottle. Even our previous formula was closer to that industry norm – a narrower 16-32ml per litre band that pushed you toward using more product even on routine jobs.

The other shift is what’s actually doing the cleaning. Most cleaners – ours included, until this reformulation – rely on surfactants synthesized from petroleum. The new formula runs on biosurfactants grown from upcycled food waste instead: the same grease and soil lifting mechanism, the same fast, streak-free result, just sourced from waste instead of fossil fuel.
