Production Specifications

HOLDOUT is a topcoat or undercoat sealer for porous or worn floors and when water resistance is needed. HOLDOUT is a specially modified water emulsion synthetic polymer sealer for a wide range of floor surfaces including vinyl composition tile, concrete, quarry, terrazzo and other stone or composite hard floor surfaces. HOLDOUT  has outstanding chemical and water resistance and is carefully designed to work with any flooring finish applied after sealing. Using HOLDOUT helps protect the flooring material from excess wear and spills, prolonging the life of the flooring.

Directions for Use

Covers 93 to 189 square meters per litre depending on porosity of flooring. It may be removed with a solution of #1 REMOVER at a dilution of 1000 mL per litre of water (128 oz/gallon) (1:1). 

General Application: 

  1. Completely strip old floor finish with a floor finish remover such as FINISH REMOVER or #1 REMOVER.
  2. Remove the stripping solution and rinse floor with a neutral pH cleaner such as NEUTRAPOWER and NEUTRAL CLEAN or follow with two to three clear water rinses. Allow to dry.
  3. Use a clean finish mop, either fine string or candy striped. Pre-wet with water and wring out mop to conserve finish. 
  4. Apply an even coat of HOLDOUT in a uniform and medium coat. Let dry thoroughly – approximately 30-40 minutes between coats. One sealer coat is usually all that is needed before applying a floor finish on top. On older, worn or porous surfaces a second coat may be applied.  HOLDOUT can be top coated with any one of Project Clean’s quality floor finishes.

Application on new concrete (no less than 90 days old): 

  1. Acid wash the surface and rinse thoroughly. 
  2. Apply HOLDOUT as directed above.
